National Testing Program

National Testing Program

GADA implements a strategic testing system that is intelligent, risk-based, data-driven, and adaptable. The organization conducts both in-competition and out-of-competition testing to detect prohibited substances and methods. The testing approach takes into account various factors such as scientific advancements, social research, competition schedules, sport-specific characteristics, and more.

Risk Assessment

Risk assessment enhances the effectiveness of the testing program by focusing on the right athletes at the right time. It guides resource allocation decisions and improves the likelihood of detecting doping.

Test Distribution Plan (TDP)

GADA develops and executes a strategic, evidence-based, and balanced test distribution program through its Test Distribution Plan (TDP), which is built upon risk assessments and prioritization.

The TDP establishes appropriate priorities across different sports, competition categories, athlete classifications, testing methods, sample types, and analytical procedures.

The national anti-doping strategy places specific emphasis on Olympic disciplines and high-risk sports that carry greater national significance and present a higher potential for doping.

In-Competition Testing

In-competition testing is conducted during sporting events. All sporting competitions within Georgia fall under the jurisdiction of the national anti-doping policy.

The in-competition period begins twelve hours before the start of the competition in which the athlete is scheduled to participate and continues until the conclusion of the event, including the full sample collection process.

GADA collects both urine and blood samples as part of its testing protocol.

Out-of-Competition Testing

GADA’s out-of-competition testing program is essential for ensuring fair play and maintaining the integrity of sport.
Athlete whereabouts information serves as a key mechanism to locate athletes at any time and conduct no-notice testing — a fundamental element of effective anti-doping efforts.
